BEEKS Zien en Horen - specialist in eye care for children and adults
Orthoptics is one of the specialities at BEEKS Zien en Horen.
What Is orthoptics? Orthoptics literally means ‘straight looking’. An orthoptist examines and treats problems related to vision, eye coordination and eye alignment. At BEEKS Zien en Horen, we combine expert care with personal attention.
How can our orthoptist help?
Our orthoptist provides care and guidance for both children and adults for issues such as:
- Crossed eyes (strabismus)
- Lazy eye (amblyopia)
- Double vision
- Headaches, tired eyes, and reading difficulties (asthenopia)
- Eye measurements in young children using eye drops
Eye examinations for children
An orthoptic examination usually takes about an hour. At the first visit, children are often given eye drops, which temporarily blur vision and enlarge the pupils. During the examination, we:
- Measure visual acuity accurately
- Check the health of the eyes
- Assess how well both eyes work together
At BEEKS Zien en Horen, we make sure children feel comfortable. We explain everything calmly and clearly, so that the examination is a positive experience.
